Easter Candy Place Cards
Mix
together thoroughly:
1
pound confectioners sugar
1/3
cup corn syrup
1/3
cup soft butter or margarine
A
few drops of flavouring
Knead
the candy until it is soft and pliable.
Divide
the candy into 2 or 3 portions - the size of the
portions will depend on the number of place cards
you will need. Each palm tree needs about 2 teaspoon
of fondant - 1 teaspoon of green and 1 teaspoon
of brown. The remainder can be stored tightly covered
in the refrigerator for several weeks. Using food
colours, colour 1 portion green and 1 portion brown.
Shape
the palm trees on the cut-out place cards; they
should dry in place. Using a table knife, draw parallel
horizontal lines in the trunk of the tree, and lines
down the middle of the palms. Allow the palms to
dry.
Once
they have dried, the whole family collaborates to
put names on the place cards. Each family member
then writes down beneath the names one thing they
like best about that person. Each family member
is acknowledged and celebrated.
Different
symbols can be used e.g. the butterfly (new life),
rainbow (hope), egg (new life).
